Big Update to 8.4.28: limited experimental APS support

Some curious guys may have already seen it. There are APS and an AES functions in the text which you don’t need for FileOpen.

Tetrachroma and Neisklar are proud to present the world’s first release:

Ineptpdf 8.4.28 has limited (experimental) Adobe Policy Server Support.

Actually, at the moment it only works for German Libraries but with the right ‘PrincipalKey’ (which you can get by sniffing communication between your computer and the server) it should work for a bigger set of files. As it’s experimental no support for that part but for a fraction of users might fi nd itvery interesting.

At that moment I want to say thanks to Neisklar who helped to find the key elements in APS. Thanks for the productive teamwork.

Despite APS support there are numerous small bug fixes.

Enjoy

    doesn’t work for d@wsonera
Error:cannot find principal key for this pdf

Yes that’s an expected behavior for a non existing Principal Key. If you want to get the principal key you have to setup an Apache (and php) and ‘fish’ the key out of the logs:

      The method is described in

      http://translate.google.com/translate?js=y&prev=_t&hl=en&ie=UTF-8&layout=1&eotf=1&u=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.boerse.bz%2Fboerse%2Fdokumente%2Febook-pub%2F453952-howto-adobe-aps-livecycle-drm-entfernen.html&sl=de&tl=en

A medium experienced user will need around an hour to set it up (uncomment the debug print outs).

If you have the Principal key you can decrypt all the e-books from that publisher.

A fully automated script update is loosely planed but it’s a complete soap xml request-reply scheme – that could take a while to develop (and I have other priorities right now).

I will include PrincipalKeys which will (hopefully) be sent to me in the next releases.

How the hell do you sniff anything with Apache? I thought this is a web server…

ukraine/tetrachroma – did you manage to get the principalkey for dawsonera? if not I may try using the method above

If you want to get the Principal Key you have to install Apache2/PHP and log the communication. In fact it’s not hard to do (costs just a little bit of time).

The script includes the Principal Key for the German Onleihe (German E-Book Lending System). As you have to have access to the server (via workable pdf) you can get the Principal Key.

I can include new principal keys if you send them to me.

thank tetrachroma, already checked with no success.

You have to fish out the PrincipalKey which needs some patience and time.

            Greetings Tetrachroma
